What to do in Kibale National Park

What to do in Kibale National Park: Kibale national park is one of Uganda’s national parks and it is located in the western region of the country covering an area of about 776 square kilometers and it is approximately 26 kilometers from Fort Portal. The park is known as the chimpanzee capital because of the large number of chimpanzees that us shelters and this makes it famous to the world. Kibale national park stretches to four districts of Uganda which are Kamwenge, Kasese, Kabarole and Kyenjojo.

Activities In Kibale National Park

Chimpanzee trekking: Chimpanzee trekking is one of the activities offered at the park and this activity begins with a briefing at kanyachu visitors center by a guide and then you set off for a chimpanzee trek that takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours. This depends on the chimpanzee location. Visitors are granted on hour to stay with the chimpanzees in their habitats and taking pictures is allowed as you follow some guidelines. While with the chimpanzees, you are able to observe their behaviors, that is to say like how they feed, play and many more.

Bird watching: Bird watching is one of the activities done in Kibale national park and this park harbors over 350 bird species hence enabling the bird watching activity. There are various birds that you can spot while at this park and these include African wood owl, Abyssinian ground thrush, brown chested alethe, collared apalis, white collared olive, papyrus gonolek and many more.

Chimpanzee habituation: For visitors who wish to spend more than 1 hour with the chimpanzees while on a Uganda safaris, chimpanzee habituation is also an activity carried out at the park that enables you stay with the chimpanzees for some good time but with an added cost. The chimpanzees habituation process can take about 2 years.

Nature walks: Nature walks in Kibale national park are done with the company on an armed guide and the nature walk in this park enables you to come across a number of primates, birds, tree species and many more. The nature walk exposes you to the various encounters with  wildlife at a close range and you can also feel the natural environment that this park has to offer.

Cultural tours: When conducting Uganda cultural tours in Kibale national park, you will visit  places like the Bigodi community where you will get an encounter with the locals who will teach you about their culture and traditions including how they make their local dishes. You will also visit the local schools in this community and the traditional areas.

Best Time To Visit Kibale National Park

The park welcomes visitors all year through but the best time to visit this park is in the dry season of the year when the park trails are dry and not slippery enabling the visitors to tour around with ease. The months in the dry season which you have to visit Kibale national park include June to August and December to February. The dry season is considered the peak season because it is when the park receives visitors in large numbers.
