Our 4 days Kibale chimpanzee and Lake Mburo wildlife tour will take you to Kibale Forest National Park, where you will get a chance to encounter and spend one hour with the chimpanzees and other primates in their natural environment. This Uganda safari will also take you to Lake Mburo National Park, which is the smallest savannah national park in Uganda. While in Lake Mburo, you will be able to view animals like buffaloes, elands, giraffes, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, topis, oribis, leopards, zebras, and impalas, among others, during the game drive and walking safari.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park – walking safari
Depending on your location, our driver-guide will pick you up from Entebbe Airport or your hotel to start the journey to Lake Mburo National Park. On the way, you will have a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe, where you will buy souvenirs, take photos, and then proceed to Lake Mburo National Park.
Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for lunch, after which you will go for a walking safari in the park, get up close and personal with animals like zebras, giraffes, waterbucks, and Uganda kobs, and listen to the sweet sounds of bird species singing in trees, among others. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
You will have an early breakfast, check out of the lodge, and meet up with your driver-guide to go for a morning game drive in the park, where you will be able to spot animals like buffaloes, warthogs, bushbucks, impalas, waterbucks, giraffes, oribis, topis, Uganda kobs, zebras, and elands, among others.
After the game drive, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch, after which you will check out and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park with views of the beautiful scenery, landscape, and Rwenzori mountain peaks, among others. Upon arrival, you will connect to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk
After an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer you to the park headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing, and after the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest in search of the chimpanzees, which takes about 2 to 5 hours. Chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park like to move deep into the forest in search of food, especially during the dry season, and during the trek, you will be able to view other primates like grey-cheeked mangabeys, olive baboons, red colobus monkeys, and blue monkeys, and spot some bird species, among others. When the chimpanzees are located, you will be able to spend one hour with them, take pictures, record videos, watch them feed, play, fight, hunt, breastfeed, and groom the young ones. After the face-to-face encounter with the chimpanzees, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will go for a nature walk in Bigodi Swamp with a local guide, which takes about 3 hours. During the swamp walk, you will enjoy views of different birds, including turacos, kingfishers, and hornbills; views of primates like l’hoest monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and blue monkeys; and mammals, among others. Later, drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Departure to Kampala/Entebbe
You will have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge, and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala. On the way, you will have an en route lunch and then proceed to Kampala, arriving in the evening, and upon arrival, you will be dropped off at Entebbe airport for your departure flight.
