The 6 days Uganda birding safari experience takes you to 3 birdwatching destinations, such as Mabamba Swamp, which is located in Entebbe; Murchison Falls National Park, which is the largest national park in Uganda; and Kibale National Park. Besides birds, you will have an encounter with the chimpanzees in Kibale National Park.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Mabamba Swamp And Transfer To Masindi

Depending on your location, the Uganda safari guide will meet and brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will embark on the journey to Mabamba Swamp on Lake Victoria, where you will spot bird species such as grey herons, rufous squacco, and egrets, among others. After, you will have lunch and head to Masindi. On arrival, you will check into the lodge and have dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Royal Mile Walk – Transfer To The Top Of The Falls

After having breakfast, you will connect to the Royal Mile walk in Budongo Forest. You will be able to spot the blue-breasted kingfisher, forest kingfisher, and African pygmy kingfisher, among others. You will have lunch and then head to the top of the falls, where you will spot some bird species. After, you will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Morning Bird Experience – Afternoon Boat Cruise

Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will connect to the park for a birding experience within the park. You will spot many birds as well as wildlife such as elephants, waterbucks and giraffes, among other birds like the malachite kingfisher, standard-winged nightjar, African fish eagle and white-browed sparrow, among others. After the birding experience, you will return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will have an afternoon boat cruise. You will have a chance to spot different water birds and animals that come to drink water, as well as those who live in water, such as crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes and elephants. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer To Kibale Forest And Bigodi Birding And Primates Walk Experience

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to Kibale Forest National Park. It’s a 6- to 7-hour drive with lunch en route. On arrival, you will connect to Bigodi Swamp for a nature walk to spot some of the birds in the swamp, such as waxbills, cuckoos, and hornbills, among others. You will also spot primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys and red colobus monkeys, among others.

After, you will check into your lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Morning Bird Watching And Afternoon Chimpanzee Trekking Experience

After morning breakfast, you will head into the forest for a birdwatching experience. And you will spot birds such as the white-naped pigeon, red-chested owlet, yellow-rumped tinkerbird, little greenbul and African grey parrot, among others. Afterwards, you will return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will go for a chimpanzee trekking experience. You will head to the park headquarters for a briefing, and after the briefing, you will enter the forest in search of the chimpanzees. Once they are located, you will have an hour with them as you watch them carry out their day-to-day activities. After, you will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer Back To Kampala

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on a journey back to Kampala. You will have lunch en route, and on arrival, you will be dropped off at the international airport for your flight back home or any place of your choice.
