The 5 days Uganda primates safari is one that primate lovers would not miss attending. This Uganda safari takes you to Kibale national park where you get the chance to see various primates that reside there, with the chimpanzees being the major ones. There are also other primates like the olive baboons, blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys, among others. You will conduct a chimpanzee trek at this park and a nature walk to spot the various bird species that are in Kibale national park. You will then proceed to Bwindi impenetrable national park for a gorilla trek, which will mark the end of the Uganda safari.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1 : Pick up and transfer to Kibale national park for a nature walk

On the first day of the safari, you will be picked up from Entebbe airport by a guide from Chopper tours and travel and the guide will brief you about the 5 days Uganda primates Safari. After the interaction, you will set off to Kibale national park which will be your first destination. You will have a stopover for lunch at a hotel and then you will proceed to the park.

When you arrive at the park, check in at the lodge, drop off your luggage, and go to the park headquarters for a briefing before your nature walk. You will go for the nature walk with the Ugandan tour guide to direct you through the trails in the park. You will spot different animal and bird species while on the nature walk in the park

You will also look at the amazing plant and tree species plus the vegetation in the park. You will get to spot the wildlife in this park at a closer distance. After the nature walk, you will then be led by the guide back to the lodge, and you will have your dinner. You will then go to bed and rest.

Day 2 : Chimpanzee trekking

On day 2 of the 5 days Uganda primates Safari, you will have breakfast at the lodge and then a guide will meet up with you and take you to the park headquarters. At the headquarters, you will be briefed about the chimpanzee trek and how it is conducted in this park. You will then set off with the ranger guide to search for the chimpanzees.

The duration of the chimpanzee trek can range from about 30 minutes to 4 hours, depending on the location of the chimpanzees; during this search, you will have the opportunity to spot other primates such as olive baboons, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, and black-and-white colobus monkeys, among others. You can only stay with the chimpanzees for an hour, but you’ll learn how they play, eat, breastfeed, and many others.  You will then take pictures and videos of these chimpanzees, following the guidelines that will be provided to you.

After the trek, the guide will lead you back to the lodge and you will have lunch. After lunch, you will spend the rest of the time interacting with the guides and making your inquiries. You will then later be served dinner before you head to bed to sleep.

Day 3 : Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

On day 3, you will get your breakfast at the lodge in Kibale national park before you set off to your next destination. You will check out before you leave for Bwindi impenetrable national park. You will have lunch on the way to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Upon arrival, you will get lodging and check in. After settling in, you will head for dinner and after you will go and rest for the night.

Day 4 : Gorilla trekking

On day 4 of the 5 days Uganda primates Safari, you will have your breakfast at the lodge and then you will head with the guide to the park headquarters for briefing. After this session of being told what to do on a gorilla trek, you will be allocated a ranger guide who will take you to the gorilla trek. You will take about 1 to 7 hours while searching for the gorillas with various encounters of other wildlife species. Once you spot the gorillas, you will be given one hour to spend with them. In the hour that you will be given, you will take the opportunity to capture photos of these primates as you watch them play, feed and do all sorts of activities on their routine. The guide will also be available to answer all the questions that you will have to ask.

The guide will then transfer you back to the lodge. At the lodge, you will have dinner in the evening and then later go to bed.

Day 5 : Transfer back to Kampala

On day 5 which is the last day of the safari, you will have breakfast at your own speed and then you will check out of the lodge once you are done. The guide will then take you back to Kampala, where you will either stay in a hotel or head to the airport for a flight.
