This is a 4 days Kibale primates and Bigodi wetlands tour that takes you on a primate-watching adventure to Kibale National Park, a home of about 13 primate species. This Uganda tour will consist of a chimpanzee trek that will be held in Kibale Forest and a Bigodi wetlands visit for nature lovers. This safari will also take you to Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for the tree-climbing lions, where you will have a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and a morning game drive on the Kasenyi Plains.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from a hotel in Kampala to Kibale National Park and a visit to the Bigodi wetlands

At a hotel of your choice in Kampala, you will meet and exchange greetings with a Chopper Tour and Travel company representative driver guide who will then transfer you to Kibale National Park after having an overview of the safari. After understanding the safari details fully, you will set off to Kibale National Park, a journey of about 5 to 6 hours.

Along the way to Kibale National Park, you will have a stopover at Amabere Ga Nyinamwiru caves and have a glance at these caves. You will have an enroute lunch at a hotel in Fort Portal town. You will then proceed to Kibale National Park, and you check into a lodge. You will then be taken for a visit to the Bigodi wetland. The visit to the Bigodi wetland will take approximately 2 hours as you explore the amazing landscapes and wildlife. The Bigodi wetland will expose you to many bird species, primates and many more. After exploring this wetland, you will get back to the lodge for dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking

An early morning breakfast at the lodge and you will be transferred from the lodge to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will be briefed about Uganda chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest; you will be given a guide to escort you. You will start the chimpanzee trek as you follow trails in the forest.

You will take about 30 minutes to 4 hours to spot the chimpanzees in the forest. You will come across a variety of birds and primate species. You will spend one hour with the chimpanzees after spotting them. You will monitor how they behave in terms of feeding, playing and many more. You will take photos of them and get back to the lodge for lunch, dinner and an overnight stay

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for an afternoon boat cruise

An early morning breakfast will be available to you at the lodge after you check out of the lodge. You will set off to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey will take approximately 2 to 3 hours. You will arrive and check into a booked lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, you will have a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. The boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel will take about 2 to 3 hours. You will spot numerous birds and water animals such as hippos and crocodiles. The guide will then take you back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Morning game drive and depart for Kampala

An early morning breakfast will be provided to you at the lodge, and then the guide will take you for a briefing at the park headquarters. You will receive the guidelines and safety rules to follow while on a morning game drive. You will head to the Kasenyi plains for a morning game drive and you will have encounters with wildlife such as lions, leopards, elephants, bushbucks, warthogs, buffaloes and many more.

You will spend about 4 hours while on the game drive. The guide will return you to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will check out, and then the guide will transfer you back to Kampala.
