Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Kampala and transfer to Kibale National Park

On day 1 of the 10 days Uganda ultimate primate safari, you will be transferred by a guide from Kampala to Kibale National Park with a stopover at a hotel for lunch. You will reach Kibale National Park and check into a lodge. You will relax and then be served dinner. After dinner, you will go to bed.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

On day 3 of the 10 days Uganda ultimate primate safari, you will have breakfast and then have a chimpanzee trek. You will meet the chimpanzees in Kibale National Park and get to spend an hour with them. You will then return to the lodge and have your lunch.

You will also visit Bigodi swamp on day 3 for a bird watching experience. You will meet several birds and other wildlife species at this wetland. You will then go back to the lodge, have dinner and then sleep.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After the experience at Kibale National Park, you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park on the 3rd day of the safari. You will arrive at a lodge and have lunch. You will stay with the guide for a briefing about the activities in Queen Elizabeth National Park, and then you will be given dinner before you sleep.

Day 4: Morning game drive and a boat cruise

On day 4, you will have a morning game drive and an afternoon boat cruise. You will start with a morning game drive after breakfast, and this game drive with be done in the Kasenyi plains. You will meet animals like the lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, Uganda kob and various birds as you drive.

After lunch at the lodge, you will go for a boat cruise that will take place on the Kazinga channel. You will have the opportunity to see the Nile crocodile and the hippos while on a 2 to 3-hour boat cruise at the Kazinga channel. You will return to the lodge for dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast at the lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will meet with the guide to transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The guide will drive you to the park, and you will have lunch when you arrive. You will then settle in at the lodge and have dinner in the evening before you sleep.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural tour

While at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will be transferred from the lodge after breakfast, and you will go for a briefing. You will then set off with the guide to the forest to conduct gorilla trekking. You will be given one hour to stay with the gorillas when you spot them. You will get exposed to their behaviours and also get pictures and videos. The guide will drive you back to the lodge.

In the evening, you will go on the Batwa cultural tour for a cultural experience in the Batwa communities. You will have time with the Batwa people and get to know about them, like their hunting skills, how they prepare their local dishes and many more. You will be taken back to the lodge, and you will have dinner before you sleep.

Day 7: Transfer to Mgahinga National Park

At your own pace on day 7, you will have breakfast at the lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and then you will check out of the lodge. You will be transferred to Mgahinga National Park and you will branch at a hotel for lunch. You will After lunch head to the park and check into a lodge that was reserved for you. You will have dinner and go to sleep.

Day 8: Golden monkey trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After having breakfast, you will be taken by a guide for a briefing at the park offices. You will head to the forest to carry out golden monkey trekking with a ranger guide. You must not exceed a maximum of 8 individuals when you are going to meet the golden monkeys. You will have one hour with the golden monkeys in their habitat, and then you will return to the lodge for lunch.

The guide will transfer you to Lake Bunyonyi, where you will have the night at a hotel and dinner.

Day 9: Canoeing and bird watching at Lake Bunyonyi

You will be served breakfast at the hotel, and then you will head to Lake Bunyonyi for a canoe experience. You will be able to visit the Islands on Lake Bunyonyi by canoe, and you will meet the residents of these islands. You will have an interaction with them about how they survive on those islands, and also learn about their traditions and culture. They will reward you with knowledge of how they make a living in their communities.

You will also have the opportunity to carry out bird watching and get to see the various bird species at Lake Bunyonyi. The guide will then take you back to the hotel for dinner, and you will sleep.

Day 10: Depart for Kampala

While at a hotel at Lake Bunyonyi, you will be served breakfast, and then you will check out of the hotel after completing breakfast. You will embark on your journey back to Kampala with the guide. You will have a stopover at Kayabwe for souvenirs and also visit the equator monument for photography.
