This is a 11 days Uganda – Rwanda primate safari to Nyungwe National Park in Rwanda, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda and Kibale National Park in Uganda.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali Airport and transfer to Nyungwe National Park

When you arrive at Kigali Airport, you will be transferred to Nyungwe National Park. Before you head to Nyungwe National Park, you will first visit the Kigali genocide memorial and the Rwanda art museum and have an enroute lunch. You will reach Nyungwe National Park and then check into a lodge. You will have dinner and sleep.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk

On the second day, you will have a chimpanzee trek and a canopy walk in Nyungwe National Park. You will begin with a chimpanzee trek in the morning after breakfast. You will go for the chimpanzee trek after the briefing, and you will be able to see the chimpanzees in their natural habitat for one hour. You will take photographs and videos of the chimpanzees while on a Rwanda safari, and then you will get back to the lodge for lunch.

The canopy walk will be conducted after lunch, and it will take about 2 hours on the suspended bridge that is 160m long and 70m high. After seeing the attractions in the park and the forest from the bridge, you will get back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park for a hike to Dian Fossey’s Tomb

On the third day, you will have breakfast and then be taken to Volcanoes National Park. You will have lunch at a hotel, and then you will arrive at Volcanoes National Park. You will check into a lodge and after go for a hike to Dian Fossey’s Tomb after a briefing. You will be able to see where Dian Fossey, the famous primatologist, was buried. You will also see where some of the mountain gorillas were laid to rest, like Digit, the most beloved primate of Dian Fossey. You will get back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking and visit to Iby’iwacu cultural village

On the fourth day, you will have breakfast and then a briefing at the park headquarters. You will get a ranger guide to accompany you for gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. You will have an hour with the gorillas in this park, and you will capture pictures and videos of them while in their natural habitat. You will find out how they feed, play, and much more. The guide will take you back to the lodge for lunch.

You will have a visit to Iby’iwacu cultural village, where you will be exposed to the culture of Rwanda from the people you will meet there. You will learn more about their traditions and then get back to y lodge for dinner and the night’s rest.

Day 5: Golden monkey trekking

On the fifth day, you will have a golden monkey trek. You will first have breakfast and then get to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will head for the golden monkey trek with an armed ranger guide, and you will trek for about 4 hours trying to find the golden monkeys. You will have an hour with them, capture moments and then get back to the hotel for lunch, relaxation, dinner and the night stay.

Day 6: Hike to Mount Bisoke

On the sixth day, you will have breakfast and then get to the headquarters for a briefing. You will set off for a hike to Mount Bisoke, which will take you about 4 hours to get to the summit, depending on your level of fitness. You will go along with your lunch, and as you hike to the summit, you will spot numerous attractions and wildlife. You will, after reaching the summit, descend back to the starting point, which takes about 2 hours. You will then get back to the lodge for a refreshment dinner and a night’s stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On the seventh day of the safari, you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park after breakfast. You will pass via Cyanika border to get to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and you will have an enroute lunch. You will get to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and get an accommodation where you will have dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 8: Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural experience

On the eighth day, you will have a gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda after having breakfast at the lodge and a briefing at the park Headquarters. You will have your packed lunch and set off with a guide to find the gorillas, which will take you about 1 to 7 hours, with an added hour that is given to you to spend with them after finding them. You will then get back to the lodge for relaxation.

You will be taken for a Batwa cultural experience in the evening, and you will learn about the culture of the Batwa. You will have a wonderful experience with the locals in the Batwa community, and then you will get back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 9: Transfer to Kibale National Park

On the ninth day, you will have breakfast and then leave the lodge for a transfer to /. You will have a stopover for lunch at a hotel, and then you will continue to Kibale National Park. You will get a lodge at Kibale National Park, check in, relax, have dinner and get to bed.

Day 10: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

On the tenth day, you will have breakfast and then have a chimpanzee trek in Kibale National Park. You will conduct this activity after a briefing, and it will take you about 30 minutes to 4 hours to find the chimpanzees. You will be granted one hour with these chimpanzees, and then you will get back to the lodge. You will have lunch and then go for a briefing.

The guide will then take you for a swamp walk at the Bigodi wetland. You will engage in bird watching and primate watching while at Bigodi Wetland. You will engage in bird watching and primate watching while at the Bigodi wetland. You will then get back to the lodge, have dinner and rest.

Day 11: Transfer back to Kigali airport
